Something Old, Something New...

This is an old saying that started as as a rhyme. But, what does this tradition mean when it come to your wedding accessories?

Something old...

  • Represents: a tie to your past
  • Ideas: Usually heirloom jewelry, or a family Bible

Something new...

  • Represents: your hope for the future
  • Ideas: this is usually the bridal gown & veil

Something borrowed...

  • Represents: by borrowing something from a happily married woman, the bride hopes some of this good luck will transfer to her.
  • Ideas: a bridal handkerchief, a piece of jewelry or a crinoline.

Something blue...

  • Represents: fidelity & consistency
  • Ideas: this is usually a bit of blue trim or a blue garter.

A lucky sixpence in your shoe...

  • Represents: wealth will follow.
  • Ideas: this is from the Victorian era, a British coin that hasn’t been minted since 1967. This is to go in the brides’ left shoe.

Note: A penny can be substituted for a sixpence.
